When speaking about the Eastern Poland, we primarily mean the Kurpie and Podlasie Regions. These regions of Poland are relatively little-known but surely they will leave indelible trails of memories in the brains of those who visited them. Writing about other regions of Poland, I mentioned nature first and foremost. The tale about the East of Poland should begin with a history of its inhabitants. You will not find elsewhere people who are so friendly, cordial and gentle as the inhabitants of Eastern Poland. It is also the place where influences of cultures of the East and the West meet and blend and where the unusual wealth of many different nations can be found. The history of this region and personalities of its inhabitants determined the development and endurance of handicraft branches, which were not preserved in other Polish regions – they are unique in the scale of Europe.
